The Hotel Magellan is located in an area rich in cultural attractions, gastronomic delights, and the wonders of daily life in Paris.
The numerous parks, gardens, and nineteenth century facades have made the neighbourhood a popular residential area, with most of the shops and services concentrated in the Place Péreire, the Place des Ternes, L'Etoile and the Porte Maillot esplanade.
A few minutes' walk from the hotel, Marché des Ternes and the Marché Poncelet (markets) are worth a detour. Very lively and colourful, you'll find excellent stalls and shops, where artisanal cheese makers, bakers and friendly wine merchants will offer you delicious local products.
At the intersection of the Avenue des Ternes and the Avenue Niel, the Etoile FNAC (bookstore) is in a particularly splendid nineteenth century building that is a listed historical monument. It is also the largest FNAC store in Paris and the easiest to reach.
A little further, the Place des Ternes opens its beautiful flower market every day, a few minutes' walk from the Parc Monceau, one of the capital's most elegant parks. Behind the gates of the park, don't miss the exquisite Cernuschi museum and its wonderful Asian collections (www.cernuschi.paris.fr).
If you are a music lover, the Salle Pleyel is just next to the Place des Ternes, and offers a superb programme in a very prestigious setting (www.sallepleyel.fr). But before going to a concert, why not treat yourself to a gourmet stop at the excellent Mariage Frères tea room: a temple of flavours with delightful, striking decor (www.mariagefreres.com). Just across the street, the charms of the no less famous Maison du Chocolat will compete for your attention, particularly if you are a chocolate connoisseur. (www.lamaisonduchocolat.com).
Finally, the area offers a very wide choice of good restaurants, from small Parisian bistros (we know all the best ones!) to more luxurious, Michelin-starred tables:
Michel Rostang (www.michelrostang.com)
Guy Savoy (www.guysavoy.com)
Frédéric Simonin (www.fredericsimonin.com)
All of these locations can be reached on foot from the hotel and will provide you with typically Parisian gourmet or cultural experiences throughout your stay.
